Bioreactor Demonstration Project, “combined chemical and biological In-situ treatment of mature landfill leachate”
What I’m Doing Now
I am currently in year four of my PhD in environmental engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) working in the solid waste management area. My first solid waste related experience was working on the Florida bioreactor demonstration project at new river regional landfill. This project deals with field scale implementation of the bioreactor technology, which provided me with the opportunity to learn about methods for monitoring field scale parameters necessary for the success of bioreactors. For my PhD dissertation I am now working with Dr Debra Reinhart at UCF on “combined chemical and biological In-situ treatment of mature landfill leachate” which is part of the long-term treatment and disposal of landfill leachate project that is being conducted at UCF labs.
Many thanks to the Florida center for solid and hazardous waste management for funding both of the projects I work on. Also thanks to my advisor Dr. Debra Reinhart for giving me the opportunity to be part of these projects which gave me the chance to learn many aspects of solid waste management.
